Program Description
The Lower Mainland Pharmacy Services (LMPS) Year 1 Primary Care Residency program is a 52-week experiential training program with a focus on primary and ambulatory care. The program was established in 2024 to meet the emerging primary care opportunities that pharmacists can provide in the Canadian healthcare system. Graduates will be equipped to be independent practitioners of and advocates for comprehensive pharmaceutical care within team-based care settings.
For our inaugural year (2025-2026), we are excited to offer 2 resident positions with our program.
The Primary Care Residency program is distinct from the LMPS Year 1 Inpatient Residency program. Residents of the Primary Care program will participate in some shared activities with the LMPS Year 1 Inpatient program and other residency programs in British Columbia. However, our program has a distinct curriculum and applicants will need to apply for and interview with our program separately.
The Primary Care Residency program is pending accreditation from the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board. Program accreditation is retroactive to prior program graduates and all successful graduates may use the Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency (ACPR) designation.
training sites
The majority of clinical rotations will be with Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and other ambulatory care sites within LMPS. Residents may complete rotations at various sites across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Providence Health Care (PHC), Fraser Health (FH) and Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) within the Lower Mainland.
We acknowledge that LMPS extends across a large geographical area. It is an expectation of residents to find transportation and accommodation to rotations as required.
